Our story
Built by people who know the industry
Big River Pork opened in December 2001 as a purpose-built facility for producing high-quality export Australian pork, sited at Murray Bridge close to farms, grain supplies and transport.
More than two decades on, it is South Australia’s largest pork processing facility and one of the largest in Australia, processing for many of the country’s leading pork producers and processors and supplying its major retailers.
That growth has been built on continuous, significant investment in the plant across capacity, technology and standards, alongside strict hygiene, work health and safety and environmental practice, and a high focus on animal welfare.

We invest heavily in regulatory, industry and voluntary standards, with independent third-party audits verifying that our product is safe and wholesome across local and global supply chains.

More than 500 people work here, a multicultural team drawn predominantly from Murray Bridge and the wider community, and most careers are built on site through training and clear pathways.
